NextGen Biofuels Fund

As of December 31, 2009, the Fund had one application in the Project Assurance Process. In 2009, the global deployment of

the next generation renewable fuels industry has been unfavourably impacted by gaps pertaining to technology readiness, the

worldwide fnancial crisis, and the economic downturn. However, at the beginning of 2010 increased deal fow activity has

been observed.

Te NGBF is currently tracking over 100 companies, several of which have expressed interest in submitting an application to

the NextGen Biofuels Fund™ in the short term. Te NGBF team is actively engaged in outreach activities which are targeting

leading next generation renewable fuels companies.

Future Plans

With 33 projects now completed, SDTC will continue to focus on engagement of the investment community

and technology adopters. Tis will include continuing our partnership with the TSX to deliver Cleantech

Investor Days and other related activities. SDTC will also increase its engagement with end-users and channel

partners such as large corporations and environmental service companies.

SDTC has been involved in the establishment of three provincial funds. In 2010, SDTC will strengthen its existing

relationships and build further provincial collaborations in order to bring a more harmonized approach to the funding of

cleantech at all levels of government.

SD Tech Fund™

In 2010, the SD Tech Fund will issue a call for SOIs and will place an emphasis on technologies that ofer clean water and clean

soil solutions. By December, 2010, SDTC estimates that the SD Tech Fund will be fully allocated. SDTC is working with the

Government of Canada to recapitalize the Fund.

NextGen Biofuels Fund™

In 2010, SDTC will issue a formal call for applications once during the year and remain open throughout the year.
